Peripheral heart (Nazarov)
A rhythmically contracting muscle group acting as a pump
Short definition
Nazarov’s concept: the muscle-venous pump; under BMS the venous return grows 30–50%, lymph drainage 2–4×, microcirculation 40–60%.
Full definition
The “peripheral heart” is rhythmically contracting muscle groups pumping blood and lymph. Under vibration-induced contractions the muscle-venous pump raises venous return by 30–50%, speeds lymph drainage 2–4× and improves capillary microcirculation by 40–60%; for impaired venous/lymph outflow, vibration replaces the missing pump. These numbers are candidate indicators of the vascular-lymphatic layer of the physiology module.
Examples
The 10–20 Hz zone of the sweep corresponds to vascular/lymph effects.
