Mixed grip
Short definition
Asymmetric bar grip: one hand overhand, the other underhand (and vice versa).
Full definition
A mixed grip is when one hand takes the bar overhand and the other underhand. Common on the deadlift to balance torque and avoid forearm fatigue from bar rotation. In Samson-fit it does not affect force transmission through the vibrating bar (only grip width and the hand positions along the bar); for the muscle load it averages the overhand and the underhand profiles of the same exercise — each arm works with its own biomechanical profile.
Examples
Conventional deadlift with a mixed grip — right hand overhand, left hand underhand.
