Concentric
Short definition
Concentric contraction — the muscle shortens under load.
Full definition
Concentric contraction occurs when the muscle produces force while shortening (e.g. pressing the bar up in a bench press). It produces less force than isometric or eccentric contraction due to the force-velocity curve.
Examples
The concentric phase of a squat is the ascent from the bottom.
