MF (Myofibrils)

Myofibrils

MIDA

Short definition

Myofibrils — contractile elements of the muscle fibre; their mass determines strength.

Full definition

MF (myofibrils) are the contractile structures inside muscle fibres, made of actin and myosin filaments. In MIDA, growth of MF corresponds to gains in maximal strength and hypertrophy. High-intensity training (>70 %MVC) stimulates MF growth.

Examples

Over 12 weeks MF mass grew from 0.5 to 0.7 of maximum.
